FACS is the band that was formed around Disappears members Brian Case, Noah Leger and Jonathan Van Herik after the band went on hiatus in 2017. The three of them recorded an album, after which Van Herik decided to leave the band on good terms. Van Herik was replaced by Alianna Kalaba, who earned her stripes playing with Cat Power, to allow the band to bring their album to the stage. The music they make is described as a minimalist approach to modern art rock.
Their debut album ‘Negative Houses’ is seen as a logical follow-up to Disappears’ final album ‘Irreal’. The lyrics had already been written during the Disappears period, but musically the band went for a whole new approach, that appeared to shift from their typical post-punk sound towards a more post-rock based one. If one adjective had to describe the record, it would without a doubt be ‘dark’. John Congleton, who also produced artists like the Roots, St. Vincent and The War On Drugs, took care of the production.
‘Negative Houses’ has already been released in the USA, and will be coming to Europe by the end of the year.
