After touring with Parquet Courts and The Fall, 2018 meant the final breakthrough for Goat Girl. The London-based band released their self-titled debut album, and quickly received a lot of positive reviews. Understandable when you listen to the 19 track album, that’s definitely something distinctly new and surreal. Everything about the band appears to be a joke, with song titles like “Viper Fish,” “Moonlit Monkey,” “The Man With No Heart or Brain”, and their stagenames Clottie Cream, LED, Naima Jelly and Rosy Bone. But their lyrics are far from a joke. Criticising Brexit, creeps in public transport and more, Goat Girl gives quite a negative view on London’s everyday life, while spreading a very Libertines like vibe.
‘The debut LP from this South London band is absurd, playful, and more than a little unsettling, sounding at times like a less romantic Libertines.’ - Pitchfork
